I've already got a few bucks down on Rousey. Depending on where the line is closer to fight night I might be willing to split the line & cut the books out if people want to throw down on Tate.

The Miesha Tate vs Ronda Rousey match is going to be hot. I would like to go that match with a $1,000.00 in singles and make it rain on them while they are brawling. I was going to be all over Ronda, but thought the line would be much closer and maybe that Miesha would be the favorite but it came out heavy on Ronda.
- Tate holds the belt - Rousey is dropping weight, this is her first fight at bantamweight
Rousey is great at tapping scrubs but Tate is a crafty vettor, that line doesnt make sense to me.

Whoa that was weird, I post the payouts, and you had beat me by seconds I guess. A lot of payouts seem pretty lame still. I know they have lots of events, and lots of fighters, but how can I guy get 6k for a fight and pay trainers, coaches etc. and make it without having a job too.

Actually forgot nelson got 65k extra for fight of the night so at least that helps. He must be stuck in soem shitty Tuf contract though to barely make more than matt brown...

Sponsors, sponsors, and more sponsors. As bad as some of the payouts look, some of those fighters are getting what they deserve and sometimes more than they deserve given their place in mma's overall landscape. I would imagine that Dana pays Roy a bit more than what is listed also because he is working under the guaranteed contract that he won from the ultimate fighter and Dan has said more than once how much he values Roy now versus before he won the show.

The Tuf guranteed contrct is notoriously seen as cheap and constricting. Its a major reason why many well known fighters are weary of actually participating on Tuf. Nelson is by far the most well known fighter to take part on it on recent seasons. Also keep in mind that nelson has been around this game for ages. He isn't some young guy who can build his career up over the nest few years. He's been a top 15-10 heavyweight for years now and has likely seen his best years pass. Hell he was beating the number 2 heavyweight in the world until some of the worst standups ever were done by the ref. He took on kimbo on Tuf for free in the first week when a ppv could have netted him 50k for such a fight. Getting paid nearly the same as matt brown is a joke and exploitive.
He strikes me as the type of guy who doesn't really care though about the money. He will often fight some of the most dangerous heavyweights and do so against top underated fighters.

I am sure Big Country has some decent sponsors but I was wondering about the fighters getting 6k. I know they have sponsors too, but is it cash, or just free equipment/gear, or maybe ring/gym time, I am asking because I have no idea on the lesser known fighters.

My snap-response was that any fighter in the UFC would naturally have sponsors lined up by Zuffa, but Ive seen enough undercard fighters with no ads on their shorts or banners behind them to wonder if thats true on reflection..

UFC charges a sponsorship tax (more so a lump fee). So any company that wants to sponsor a fighter in ufc has to shell out big money to do so. The problem is it keeps small companies out which are more likely to sponsor lower tier fighters. As a result fighters are forced to look for only big name sponsors. Great for medium and high quality fighters but makes it harder for upstart fighters.

So, looks like by Diaz losing the UFC saved a grip of cash.
Although I am sure they are going to lose way more in the long run cause GSP/Diaz would probably drum up way more biz than GSP/Condit.

Theres also some groups that pay the fighters like 100k a year, and they keep most of what the fighter earns. I forget some of the guys names but im 90% Hendricks is under a deal like this.
