anyone have any experience with buying seeds online and growing a small plant for personal use?

been awhile

back in the day i got them from gypsy nirvana

probably worth spending the extra money to buy feminized seeds.
greatly increases the likelyhood of females (bud).
once they're past the seedling stage, they are quite
tolerant and easy to grow. you can set up a few fluorescents
or an HPS or MH bulb in a closet, water and fertilize,
then harvest in a few months.

used to buy 90% of our seed from seedbay, unless there was something specific we needed (eg: deep purple leaves with heavy flower for camoflage in certain outdoor grows, or certain BC genetics only available from marc emery).

I dont see most of the strains we used to get there anymore. I remember a couple varieties from JoeyWeed seeds and Bros Grimm were amazing, so much bud that the stems would snap from the weight.

odor might be issue if you are doing clandestine.

I would not spend big money on seeds for your first grow.
Kindof like me spending $3000 on top of the line golf clubs,
total waste for a hack like me, wouldnt do any better than a 300$ set.
A pro on the other hand would be able to maximize the technology
of expensive clubs.

As far a lights, depends how far you want to go, how much u want to spend. u can pick up cheap fluorestent tubes, something sold to go over a workbench. work fine. Spend a bit more and get HPS or MH grow lamp from a hydroponics store. We used to pick up used ones (transformer + socket for 1/2 of new or less and just buy brand new bulbs. Way more intense light, better growing, usually requires small fan in small space because they put off heat. depends on your setup what will work best for you.

Once they're 3-4 inches tall, they're pretty easy to grow as long as u water every couple day and fertilize occasionally. you can get as complex as you want or keep it simple. if you;re just growing for personal use, keep it simple real basic, only need 5-10 minutes attention a day.

I live in a medical state and I would say 95% of the people I talk to about this all use the Additude Seed Bank. They are big enough to eat the loss and send again if they do not make it through customs. Order at the beginning of the month because they always have some kind of deal running then. If you are looking for a suggestion try the Tahoe Kush from Cali Connections, or anything else by them really.

Since I am in a medical state and have a card I am not too worried about sending to my house. But that is something you might want to think about if you are not in the same boat as me.
