Wait is this the SS of the email itself, or SS of Travis opening the pic to SS... cause if it's the SS itself then it's a fake, cause the fact that it woulda had to be done in windows 95... as we all know windows 95 didn't have all that good of graphics done to their taskbars yet. The taskbars were at least made in a later version of windows.

From the looks of it, he's stored the email on his pc from back then, and used his outlook to reopen it to take the SS, which would make more sense of the newer looking taskbar.

Having listened to the radio shows, I'd say that's not true. Travis has greatly implicated Russ.

What the hell are you talking about, am I missing something here? What does windows 95 have to do with anything?

Kind of disappointing to see that God can be compressed down to a mere 327 bytes.

I think what he's referring to is the date in the email is 2005. But the look of the Windows Interface in the screenshot (taskbar, circle instead of Start button) didn't exist in 2005. Why he specifically referenced Windows 95 I'm not sure. But that screenshot was definitely taken more recently than 2005.

LOL @ UB. I wonder if anyone out there still has a copy of their software from the time that Super Using was taking place.

Because this screenshot sure makes it seem like everyone's client theoretically had the ability to superuse provided that the contents of that registry file were imported.

It would be interesting to see what the .reg file contained.

So of these 3 people, do you recognize any of the names? What's the big deal exactly? It's been established that superuser/god mode, whatever, was the primary method used to do the cheating?!?

If none of these people are russ hamilton, then who are they?

Well, this is actually fascinating.

What this tells us is that, at least on September 8, 2005, was that effectively all copies of the UB client had the "potential" to run in "god mode" given a specific registry key(s) put in place and combined with the knowledge of some specific userid/password...

I wonder why there is even effort to keep the contents of this registry hack secret to this day? Does it still work????

Just saying..there's nothing stopping someone from getting their hands on the client software from that timeframe , installing it, and using a tool like ProcessExplorer to see all the registry keys the software checks for...

If this "ability" no longer exists in the current UB client I see no reason not to, for the historical record, document exactly what the registry key was, since we now know from what's been disclosed that this is in fact how the "god mode" worked.

Using Process Monitor is exactly what I was thinking would be interesting with the old client software.

Micon, any chance Travis has the attachment from this email, or does he just have screenshots?

There exists freeware programs like "Resource Hunter" that allow someone to look at "strings" inside an executable file. I can't possibly imagine how there would be anything wrong with taking a several-year-old piece of software that currently has zero use and simply looking at it to see if there are strings in it that collaborate the email from the OP.

Again, it seems to me that if any effort is still being made to keep the exact "secret key" secret, implies to me that there has to be a reason, and the only obvious reason would be if it was somehow still useful, which in and of itself would be, IMHO, quite the bombshell.

Some very interesting string resources embedded in the Utimatebet.exe client program circa the time the parent email was sent out....

For good measure, I think I'll run the old software mainclient.exe through a disassembler as well, to extract all the string resources. It's really at this point not something that can be hidden from anyone. It's just a matter of time to find it.

Doug the UB client running today is actually an updated AP client. When AP/UB merged they used the backend AP software (renamed Cereus) and created a skin of the AP client to make it look like UB. So I sort of doubt any of that legacy stuff is in todays client.
