a few new details -

police say they confiscated the murder weapon and mattress where the murder occurred from the guy's home

he says his thai wife recently left him, he was depressed, intoxicated and in a "dire financial situation" and he "snapped"

Its hard to describe how ruthless this place can get. People simply dont understand what concepts like "Thailand for Thais" mean in terms of day to day life here, and how completely helpless you can feel because despite how badly this country wants your money, *they dont want you here at all*.

At first you roll with it as best you can but eventually, the relentless torrent of petty injustices breaks you down.

I mean honestly, Im spectacularly wealthy by Bangkok standards, Ive got a hell of a cushion, but this place has had me on the ropes a few times, and even tho I heard it from peoples mouths before I got here, I simply couldnt imagine how true it was; Thai people have a siege mentality that pits them basically against everything that isnt Thai, and quite a few things that are for that matter.

Concepts like "corruption" lose their meaning when confronted with the scale of state mandated predatory injustice that rises on all sides of any farang who dares expect anything from a Thai individual, business, or government institution.

Pretty much anyone who can afford to move to Vietnam is in the process of doing so, and I cant fucking WAIT to get back to God's America so I can talk about why without fear of my goddamned door getting kicked in during the twilight hours and being hauled off to a filthy cinderblock cage for months.

At least this one seems like it doesn't have to do with money -- or at least not the primary factor.

First there was that Korean guy who played 200-400 at Commerce. He was literally dragged out of the game there after they had evidence that he killed his parents over a dispute about money.

Then there was Ernie Scherer, the Bellagio high limit cash player who also killed his parents after an argument about money.

Then there was that guy who robbed hookers from Craigslist in the Boston area, who was doing it to get buyins for Foxwoods games. He ended up in a struggle with one of them and killed her.

It's refreshing to see a poker player murdering someone as a result of depression and psychosis, rather than just money.
