I'm probably going to be looking at some places while I'm in Vegas next week to move in September. Currently looking in Spring Valley, but I'll look some more later. Looking to spend in the $800-1k range per month I think for a 1 bedroom. Any advice on places to definitely avoid or things to look out for?

What are the most important issues for you? Traffic? Proximity to strip? Weather issues? Bug issues? Theres quite a bit to consider out here...... and if you can provide what youre looking for and/or looking to avoid...... im sure im not the only one that could help.

Not really worried about traffic too much, I'll have a car, but I don't know how much I'll be driving around anyway. I want to be somewhat close to the strip, but its not a huge factor. Bugs I dont mind too much as long as they aren't harmful. I'm not quite sure what weather issues are, isn't it pretty much equally hot all through Vegas?
I basically don't want to live in a shithole area, and I want to live in a safe area, as long as its in my price range i can deal with pretty much everything else. As far as things to avoid I basically meant things that different apartments might advertise online that they can't deliver on, or things to make sure before I decide I think I like a place, because I know theres tons of different apartments to choose from.
Right now Im somewhat looking at palermo apartment homes and noble park only because they were the first few on rent.com in spring valley that seemed decent and they seem like they're in my price range

A couple of thoughts.... With respect to bugs, if you stay closer to the strip, you shouldnt have any problems. The developments out here that are newer/nearer to construction that have not been exterminated as excessively over a longer period of time and nearer to construction where a lot of natural habitats are being disturbed will tend to have the higher concentration of ants, roaches, and scorpions. Unfortunately, nowhere is immune..... since i just killed a scorpion in my bathroom last night..... and he tried to sting me like fifteen fucking times before he was dead. Yuck, seriously, yuck. As far as the weather, no..... its not all the same. If youre up in Summerlin (Vistas, Red Rock, Ridges, etc.) during the summer closer to the mountains and at a higher altitude..... its probably close to ten degrees cooler than on the strip. I cant even tell you how much better 100 feels than 110 . You can get an apartment up in the NW..... where you can hop on the 215 to Flamingo and take Flamingo straight down to the Bellagio/Rio..... and itll take about fifteen minutes. My personal opinion is that you could find something very nice in that price range up in that area..... and i like it a lot better than the other side of town or closer to the strip. If i were looking for an apartment, id look on Sahara, Charleston, Far Hills or Town Center in the NW with easy access to the 215. But really as far as location, its personal preference. I know from past coversations on here most people disagree with me..... but id never live anywhere else in town and ive been out here for about eleven years now. The only reason id ever live anywhere else would be specifically for proximity to the Bellagio/strip. Hope that helped a little.

everything in Vegas is super cheap right now - craigslist has sick deals
you can rent a nice 2 bedroom house in a gated community with a community pool and gym for only $1K/month apartments are even cheaper
i'll go looking with you when you get in town

Awesome, I'll probably be looking on either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, whichever of those works for you is fine if you have a preference, and I'll try to look at some more places online tomorrow. See you soon! Also, check pms and ship me your cell #

Yeah and i hate it. I popped over there today to hang out and cant stand it. Its strange how everyone has an allegiance to one side of town or the other.

they have 2 different sizes for 1 bedroom, which is what i want, 740 sq feet and 780, im probably getting the 740 because its slightly cheaper and more than enough for 1 person anyway, its either 790 or 825 per month.

I wouldn't ask, but I've never seen you exaggerate before. How does one have such a long drawn out battle with a scorpion ?

Scotty have you moved in yet? Happy with it? Wondering if anyone had an opinion on "Vintage at The Lakes" or "Rancho Destino"? I saw them recommended somewhere but wanted unbiased opinion. I'm moving to Vegas Nov 1.
