i need a program, whatever it is, to automatically refresh a page over and over

this is for non-NWP related activities, but i must remain ambiguous about its actual purpose(s)

tape down F5

taping down F5 is a pretty sweet and simple idea that i surprisingly have never thought of before. i just tried it on a webpage with a counter and it doesnt work with the latest firefox and ie. although i have an old version of the opera browser on my system and i saw the page counter moving up as i held down F5. if you want to do it this way you can download old versions of browsers from http://www.oldversion.com/

the other way to automatically refresh a page is loading it in an iframe.
this does not work with all sites. many sites have framebuster code (like neverwinpoker)

first open up notepad. Start > Programs > Accesories > Notepad

then copy all this code and paste it into notepad


the variables to edit are obv the url of the page you want to refresh currently set to google and also where it says content="3" that is how often the page will refresh in seconds. you can change that number to whatever you like.

then in notepad press File > Save As and save the file as anything.html
just make sure when you save it the file extension is .html and not .txt which is the default for notepad


then just find the anything.html file, double click on it and it will open in your browser.

try it just as it is first with the google url in there so you can see what it looks like. if iwhen you put the url in and it just redirects to the website in the full window then that site has framebusting code and it wont work.

There is a firefox plugin called check4change. If you use firefox, google it, install, and then highlight a part of the page that will not change (for example, the name of a forum would work here but not the number of views a topic has) and set it to check every 2 seconds or so.
