The 2008 World Series of Poker begins tomorrow, so there couldn't be a better time to discuss it. I've played a bunch of events since 2005, most famously my record-setting 3rd-then-1st finishes in my first two WSOP events ever. Since then, I've learned a lot more about the WSOP, including just how lucky I really was.

I've seen Harrah's mess things up for three years in a row (especially the last two years), and I've developed a lot of experience with the events themselves. As poorly as it's managed, the WSOP is still a special experience for most people, and just participating in it remains the goal for many small-time poker fans.

Among the topics to be covered:

- The history of the WSOP (I'll keep this short so I don't bore you all to death)

- The Moneymaker effect

- My first WSOP experiences, and how it felt to surprisingly do so well

- Tips for handling the WSOP logistics: When/how to register, where to stay if you don't live in Vegas, avoiding lines, what to do about food, and, yes, which bathrooms to use.

- The WSOP events: Which are easy? Which are toughest? Where do you have the best shot at winning a bracelet?

- Tips for the NL Holdem, Mixed Limit/NL Holdem, and Limit Holdem WSOP events. The strategies I found that worked and didn't work.

- The 2007 fiascos (also known as Why Harrah's Doesn't Give a Shit About the WSOP and Just Wants to Make Money)

- What do bracelets really mean anymore?

- The Main Event: Even though I've embarrassingly failed to get past Day 1 in my three tries, I will give my feelings about the Main Event, and why I still feel it's easily the best value 10k tournament in poker.

I hope the "coaching" will be good for the final table as I don't want to see an "All-In" fest like the last 2 years seemed to be. I want to see good "Post-Flop" poker.

Show delayed a bit more for 2 reasons:

1) I want to see the end of this Lakers game.

2) My router appears to be donkdown, or is at least malfunctioning. This will prevent me from doing the show unless I can get it resolved. More info shortly.

There is 1225 in the pot a guy with 8bb shoves in the cutoff and gets called by a pair a little smaller from a guy that has 5.5bb. What were the alternatives? Raising the limper out by betting 1600 and committing yourself anyway? Or limping and let somebody flop a set to your overpair? With these stack sizes how can you do anything different? Especially in a five table turbo sng.(just assume since it is a $27)
