I think maybe I have been a little hard on the BIG 10 for being terrible the last decade. Maybe I'm wrong about everything so I thought a thread following all their bowl games this season could be interesting. The BIG 10 is coming off its first winning bowl season in the last 8 years with two of those being BCS games. I guess we will see if last year was a fluke or if the BIG 10 is back on track and set to dominate like its glory days.
First up, The Insight Bowl
Missouri vs Iowa line Missouri -3
key notes: Iowa is missing some key players which could be hard to overcome This is the 6th year in a row this game has featured the BIG10vsBIG12, the BIG 12 has won the previous 5

This guy. You've already outted yourself as a big 10 hater. You made this thread because you believe they're going to underperform. Fat chance, even with tough opponents they will win 5 or 6 out of 8. Who cares if Iowa loses the insight bowl if the big 10 takes home both the rose and sugar bowls? How about measuring your pac 10 as well. I know the conference could only manage four (4) bowls, but still. The rest of the nation has always thought of the pac 10 as a one team conference, but this is Oregon's big chance to prove the nation wrong. lol wouldn't want to miss that! | | | | Quote: Insight: Iowa vs. Missouri Site: Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ Date: Dec. 28, 10 p.m. TV: ESPN

Oh, you only care about the big bowl games. You must be pretty disappointed with the BIG 10's 6-11 BCS record over the last decade.

The more important game to focus on is the Arizona- Oklahoma St. game tonight. Almost exact copy of last night's game. A 10-2 Big 12 team taking on a 7-5 Pac 10 team with Ok. St. being at -4. Really that game couldn't even be any closer than last night's game down to identical records and all.
This thread is also as Holocaust pointed out a reflection now on the Pac 10s 4 teams and their bowl results.
As far as the Illinois game, I can't really understand the line. They are closely matched teams who have limped across the finish line with Illinois losing 3 of 4 and Baylor dropping it's last 3. That said, Baylor hasn't played in a Bowl in 16 years, they are playing in Texas, and their last 3 losses were against the top half of the Big 12 vs. Illinois losing to the bottom dwellers.
Baylor is bad on defense, but they appear to be worse at pass defense which Illinois isn't that good at doing anyways. The NCAA site is down for maintenance so I can't break their defense down by category, just box scores.
Baylor has the most dynamic player on the field in RG3, and the combination of a bowl game being a big deal and playing in state seems like it should be Baylor -3 or so.
I'm not betting it because I'm rooting for Illinois, but that line seems to be an overreaction to last nights game imo, I believe it has moved from opening, and if not, more a testament about public perception of Baylor than actual results this season.

I agree that the Arizona/Okl St game should be interesting, Arizona really struggled at the end of the season but that win vs Iowa looks better now. I wouldn't bet either way on this one.

Easy bet, Ok. St. -4. That Iowa team was at the height of it's drug abuse when they lost to Az. When your stars on are hydromorphone, you can lose to a 1AA team. Hell Minnesota beat Iowa, not much to beating a drug addled team.

Come on now, USC isn't in a bowl because one of their players bought their mom a house not because they aren't good enough. Also.....
non conference schedule for: Northwestern: Vandy, Illinois St, Rice, Central Michigan Oregon St: Louisville, Boise St., TCU
If they flipped non conference schedules you really think Northwestern would still be bowl eliglbe? If Oregon St. had Northwestern's non conference schedule you don't think they would be playing in a bowl game? You really think Northwestern is a better team then Oregon St.?
Don't you find it interesting that the PAC 10 plays 9 conference games(they play everyone every year) and only 3 non conference games, while the BIG 10 has 11 teams but only plays 8 conference games and 4 non conference games? Now why do you think the BIG 10 does this? I will tell you why, they schedule 3 and sometimes four cupcakes so they only have to win 2 or 3 conference games to become bowl eligable. This shows up in their 28-41 bowl record over the last decade because teams like this years Northwestern don't belong in a bowl game.

easy bet, ok. st -4
#14 ranked 10-2 Ok. State vs. 7-5 Az. Exact replica of last night's game. with #12 ranked Mizzou losing to 7-5 Iowa. You love a small sample size, there is a 1 gamer for you, exact copy.
Ok. State by probably 17. You really should have picked a better year to be a Pac 10 homer. Stanford wins, everyone else gets beat, 1 win for the Pac 10, book it.

Oh ya, and whatever you do don't respond to my post about Northwestern. ASU played Wisconsin and got beat 20-19(missed extra point) while Northwestern played Wisconsin at home and got beat 70-23. But Northwestern must be better than ASU because they are playing in a bowl right?

retardedly small, and obviously designed to argue a bad point when one dismisses the first 2 years of BCS play when it's only existed for 12 because you don't like the results--it's a teen-agers argument
