2) welcome to general discussion about the WSOP 2010, for non-event specific discussion. (each individual event listed in the WSOP 2010 forum, if you are talking about an event, post it there!)
Guess who's going to show up midway through and still win POY?
This guy.

Tweets from Micon, Druff and Reggiman will automatically show up as posts in the respective thread for the event they are playing in. If anyone else is playing in an event and wants to auto post their tweets, send a PM to us and we will hook you up so we can rail you.
Have fun and good luck everyone!

I wonder if $20 for an internet day pass is actually counter-productive for Cox and the Rio.
At some point, a higher price actually makes you less profitable than a lower price.
I'm sure they're figuring that degens won't care and just pay it, but I think a lot of people will be put off by the $20/day price tag and just never get it. I bet they'd make more money at $10/day.
This is the same reason I believe Pay-Per-View movies have been overpriced for years. If they just dropped the price to $1.95 or $2.95, people would constantly be getting movies, rather than finding excuses NOT to at $4.95 or higher.
Perhaps this is always the price in the Rio Convention Center, and they count on businessmen charging it to their company. That would make a little more sense. In fact, now that I look closer to the professionally-printed sign, I'm pretty sure that's the case.
So we're just getting fucked by the fact that this is in a location primarily used for business customers.

In economics, this is called the Laffer curve, named after Arthur Laffer - one of Reagans top economic advisors (and also a professor at UCSB while we were there, btw - he was helicoptered from Palos Verdes every Tuesday/Thursday to give his class - he was the highest public employee at the time as well - but i digress). His idea was that with taxes you make $0, by taxing 0% and taxing 100%. There is a curve and at some point you make the MOST money. And at some point it starts going back down. So you keep increasing taxes until you actually begin making LESS money and then you drop back down (which as we know never actually has happened).. So, if these companies are smart, they will drop prices to see if it increases profits..
Edit: btw, I really fucked up with his daughter. I was good friends with her and should have tried to date her in HS as her families net worth is +EV. Arthur Laffer has moved from PV to......Omaha and lives near his good friend.......Warren Buffet..

a few updates to keep all of the relevant 2010 WSOP / DD news in this monster thread for archiving purposes:
1) DD'er "john stamos" (real name: Cory Brown) got 6th in the huge $1K NL - Event No. 3 way to go! $116,000 score!! here's the link to the Event 3/Stamos rail thread: event-limit-hold-1000-t75242.html
In this, Micon discusses how a player was banned from Harrah's for breaking a dealer's hand and how Micon cleaned up dog shit for $600 on Full Tilt. He is joined by Druff and online poker legend IamHiv who came to Vegas with only $20 (we picked him up at the airport since he couldn't afford a cab) and managed to sell enough pieces of himself to freeroll the series BUT had to give up 5% of his freeroll to obtain housing in Vegas. GL HIV!! Hope you score big this summer!
3) Micon's youtube rant about the late registration rules:

um no, definitely not. The laffer curve refers specifically to tax revenue collected by the government, not the garden variety marginal profit curve, around long before the 1970s/80s.

OK, so the sick WSOP coverage we have seen so far is a couple bracelet ceremony videos. I know I know this is the WSOP and you are playing events and trying to have fun, but you run a poker site the WSOP should be approached like tax season at a CPA firm. Druff isn't playing again until Wednesday so he could have done something today or at least should have some material tomorrow.

did something happen to the ''intern''?
I would assume he is the guy that should be running around doing the donkey work videos while the big boys are playing?

The Rio is also going to lose everyone with a smartphone and a USB cable. Tethering FTW.
