OK so I am in the infancy stages of starting my own blog, and currently writing content for a launch in the next few weeks to a month. This will be a platform for some other bigger things in the future but we don't have to get into that right now.

My thing is obviously I have never done this before, and really don't know where to start as far as getting the content to the finished staged to make it look professionally done. I also want to monetize it as much as possible, but realize I won't be getting rich off it. That is really an added benefit, I am not doing this for fast cash but would like to get as much out of it I can if possible.

I can bang out entries all day long, but after that is where it will get tough for me. I am not really that computer literate or savvy, and basically my knowledge is very limited in that area. I would really like to focus on the content rather than having to teach myself all this shit because I don't really have time nor the interest. If i have to I will, but I really that isn't where I want to focus my energy.

If I could just write content and have someone else manage it for me for a nominal cost that would be sweet, but again I know nothing about these things.

Sow with all that said if anyone has any sites, links or other general info that could help me let's hear it.

lol.....martin use to shit all over wordpress and themes when i suggested it to him....now it's a staple in everything he does.

it all depends on what your motivation and intention is on your blog.

wordpress is easy to install when you secured hosting and then the sky is the limit as to what theme/template you want to use, and what you want to get out of it.

just google wordpress themes, wordpress templates, etc..this will give you an idea of what's out there.

and just becuse you like a certain theme doesn't mean it will work well for you.

Honestly, whatever Jewdonk paid you to post this, I'll pay you twice as much to hang yourself.

There is a lack of quality blogs out there, I have written for some of them in the past and I really don't feel like donating my time and effort anymore with no possibility of future compensation.

They won't pay for content and have hoodwinked some of the fanbase into writing content for them for free. There is a place for that type of stuff her and there,but I just won't be a part of it any more.

It takes a lot of time and research to do the type of stuff I write, and don't see the point in giving it away any more.

I have the motivation, trust me.

This is something I have been thinking about for a while and I have a true passion for it and plenty of time. I own a landscaping business but that work dies down right as the NFL is ramping up, so it fits perfectly for me.

I have 2 wordpress blogs registered but that is as far as I have gone. I am pretty sure I can figure out the basic templates, but when it comes to pictures, graphics, linking stuff, RSS feeds, those google ad words or whatever the fuck they are, and all that shit that is where I don't know if I will be able to do it without spending hours trying to figure it out. I just don't want it to look like shit.

I can learn it that isn't the issue, but how long is it going to take me. Again I would rather spend time on content instead of that stuff. If I had another month to play with I would probably do it, but I don't for what I am blogging about.

Popeil is talking 'how to put up a theme' not 'how to blog', two completely different things.

a free blog and a wordpress blogging theme share the same idea but are different. also,...wordpress may have some sort of free blog thing like blogsplot as well.

i reccomend getting a domain and a host that has cpanel.

i pay less then $1.oo per month for my sites for hosting..to put this in perspective godaddy and hostgator charge around 7.oo a month for their basic hosting plan, i believe.

as for monetizing it, you can make $$$ w/ adsense depending on how hard you work and your niche.

you could also use amazon or other sites to promote sports memoribilia which you can get a cut of if they use ur click through.
