Vegas1369,
Looking for a place to get a lobster thermadore in the later portion of the evening in Vegas, obviously looking to avoid the dress-code oriented super fancy restaurants, just want a decent lobster thermadore that doesnt taste like leftovers from a transatlantic flight.
Also interested in any French Vietnamese places that do dungeoness crab right.
Thoughts?

Easy. Andre's in downtown Vegas. Not really known by tourists, kind of a locals secret, but to me it is the best French restaurant in Vegas. Even better than Picasso's in the Bellagio or The Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris. Their hours vary and really don't have a closing time, so I would recommend a reservation. http://andrelv.com/original/ I believe a few steak houses such as Envy Steak House offer it on their menus as well. I'd still stick to Andre's though. As far as French Vietnamese, I haven't seen any good Vietnamese restaurants in Vegas, let alone with French Vietnamese dishes offered. There is Pho in Treasure Island, but they don't offer Dungeonous Crab. There is also Pho So 1 in China town off of Spring Mountain, but not sure if they offer the crab either. The majority of Vietnamese restaurants here are noodle houses.

Had no clue what this dish was so had to use wiki Lobster Thermidor is a French dish consisting of a creamy cheesy mixture of cooked lobster meat, egg yolks, and brandy or sherry, stuffed into a lobster shell, and optionally served with an oven-browned cheese crust. The sauce must contain mustard (typically powdered mustard) in order to be true to the original recipe and to have the distinctive Thermidor taste.

Ate at Downtown Andres Valentines Night couple of years ago, fucking awesome food, and an incredible wine list/sommelier.
Had the best two wines I'd ever tasted.
$500 for 2 but well worth it.
You need to drive there or get a cab- it's not in the best area.

Oh man... I would stick my dick in that. Holy f'ing cow that sounds good. I have been in a food rut for a while now, eating good stuff just not too much variety. I am going to hunt this dish down.

Will do, Michael... found it listed as an entree at a seafood restaurant near the Galleria in Houston. Will be passing through there when I head to Biloxi at beg of January, might have to make a detour. Will bump with food review for sure. Still looking for the Jax area, so far I haven't found a single restaurant serving it. For Sonatine, it's listed on the menu at Andre's in Vegas (both locations)... 2lb Maine Lobster served several ways including Thermidor. I am not sure if this violates the "not a 5 star joint" part of the search..... Andres Menu... not a DickGirl Rick Roll, promise.

Sonatine, I think you live in the LA area? If so there is a good place in Simi Valley to get cheap Lobster Thermadore for Sunday brunch. $18.95 all you can eat. http://www.vivalapastasimivalley.com/#

I actually get this dish at least 5 times a year. For those interested there is a Chinese Seafood Restaurant (I think it's just called Seafood Restaurant...lol) that serves this lobster dish and a few others for only $24.99. It's right off of Spring Mountain in the big Chinese Mall on the left heading up from the strip. Can't miss the place, it's all restaurants with a few Asian markets.
