Cleatus lives here in Vegas. Have met him probably 7-8 times irl. Very nice guy mid 50's. Fought in some war (forget which one) for our country at some point.

This hurt cleatus very much, as he really cherished that beloved scooter. This and the stagnant economy has hit Cleatus hard.

Our goal is raise funds within the community to replace Cleatus's yellow scooter. We need to raise 1k minimum to get him something that will be suffice in getting him to the grocery store, dr appointents, casinos etc.

Micon and myself have pledged $100 each. Anyone who would like to help please send money to DanDruff on pokerstars, or fulltilt (he will post ftp name in thread). Druff will escrow money and will give us a update. If your unable to send to druff through a poker site, pm me for other options.

In the event funds aren't reached to secure Cleatus some sort of reasonably safe performing scooter, funds will be returned by Druff.

I was just browsing through the Vegas C/L ads for scooters and it looks like there are several for less than 1k... what features would make for the ideal purchase ?

Age 51. Never fought in a war. Coast Guard. Happened to be on a 378 foot cutter in Tokyo when the Soviets shot a commericial 747, Korean Air Lines flight 007 out of the sky north of Japan near the Soviet islands of Sakhalin & Moneron. From Wiki: "The incident was one of the most tense moments of the Cold War, and resulted in an escalation of anti-Soviet sentiment, particularly in the United States." We were the 1st and only yank ship there for 6 days. Had been transferred into the Navy's 7th Fleet b4 leaving Tokyo. If the Soviets decided to escalate we would have been sunk immediately. If Pres Reagan decided to escalate we would have fired on Soviets and then been sunk. Our ship was built for only $20 million and had ~145 crew making us the most expendable asset to lose in a propganda war. 8 weeks of harrasment and boredom ensued. Nobody talks about the subs up there but it was cool to see 2 of our fast attacks surface on our aft flanks. Thanks bubbleheads.

I put a lot of work into that 1986 Honda scoot. Hopefully the 2 things i could not fix/upgrade, loose steering head bearings and skinny tires, resulted in a shithead crashing hard and totaling it/him.

Unfortunaely the the low cost chink scoots (Rocketa, VIP, SunyL, Tank) are junk on arrival. Same engine/trans package in all of them, generators are too small = dead battery = using kick starter which has a life cycle of ~150 strokes. Plastic turn signals, mirrors etc fall off within months. My scoot was stolen when parked with 3 newer but not working chinkers. Here are two good used ones on CL.
