Worth the trip out if you don't have a boat?

Absolutely. Not really all that great to go swimming in though. The only place to go if you want to swim is Boulder Beach, which is a somewhat sand/mostly rock beach. Not too bad, but when the wind is kicking, which is pretty often, the sand kicks up pretty good.

There is a great lookout point a few miles before the Hoover Dam, there's a sign for it on the left heading out there. Here's a few pics from it...

Is it just me or is that lake level dropping like a rock ?

It hasn't dropped too much in the last 2 years, but it is still down over 100 feet. They are actually in the process now of building drainage tunnels underneath the lake, if it drops a bit lower they won't able to get water from the current pipelines.
