This small group I belong to wants to come to Vegas over MLK weekend in January. We will probably need around 10 rooms and a smallish meeting room with internet access.

So far it seems Strat is the leader among places that have bothered to give us an estimate.

I've been to Vegas a lot of times and I've never even been in the place, let alone in a room there.

Can anyone tell me just how bad the place is?

The price we were quoted was $150 for Fri/Sat/Sun plus $200 for a meeting room.

Personally if I could I'd rather go downtown, at least there you can move from one casino to another with minimal effort.

I've stayed at the Strat on 3 or four separate trips, 2/3/4 nights each trip. I completely recommend this place. Rooms are clean, and staff is courteous to requests. Haven't had a bad experience there ever.

You definitely don't want to go downtown.

Dowtown is fine as long as you stay at the Nugget.

Nugget is actually very nice. Shame it is where it is.

I stayed there some time ago. Not to be overly critical, but I didn't enjoy it much. Few things, very cement-like beds are hard on the back. No safes in the rooms if you carry around any cash of note. Not dirty, not clean. Good comps, I was in a suite within 48 hours, but it still had horrible beds. It's been awhile, it may have improved. If you are just there for a conference, it's likely fine. If you want to move around city, cabs or rental car offset any money saved compared to a better location more central.

the strat is not that bad. I would say you get your moneys worth there. I wouldnt stay down town. its a cess pool. Maybe try hooters the rooms are clean and cheap and the location is pretty good.

Go to El Cortez. Its a historic landmark and has a very courteous staff. Tell them Doug Lee sent you.

Anyways, strat sucks dick do not go there. It's incredibly far away from everything and its old and shitty. You can stay center strip by everything for approx the same price and have a blast.

There were safes in the rooms I stayed in @Stratosphere.

Just sayin'.

I stayed at the Strat when I went to Vegas last month. It wasn't great, wasn't bad. I got what I paid for as I tried to jew on the room so I could afford to take fiance to a bunch of shows.

The beds were pretty comfortable, but I am not picky about where I sleep. They were very bland rooms. White paint all around, no flavor. But honestly, if you are going to Vegas you probably aren't going to be in the room very much. I was in my room long enough to sleep and then I was out as soon as I woke up.

Nice that it is on the strip but away from the heart of it. If you have a car it is no problem getting where you need to go.
