I usualy travel alone out to Vegas since most of my friends can't muster up any cash to come with me or go out with my Dad who just kinda does his own thing so I've never actually taken in a show except for a couple random comedy clubs. This trip I am finaly going out with a friend and I figure it would be aproprate to see a show (or two) and I remembered seeing a couple half priced ticket booths on the strip. is this a scam or is this shit legit? There must be a catch of some sort

I'm fine with you guys thinking your pissing me off or something acting like this but we all know where im going to end up in poker when being serious. I am up almost 10k this summer in micro FR and 6 max 15-20 tabling and I have tons of backers but yep just keep laughing at me and i'll keep dedicating my life to improving my poker game and getting somewhere big in life.

I've never seen those, but I'm not on the strip all that much. Broadway shows offer half price tickets for that night so they don't eat the tickets. The only discounts I've heard of at casinos are for locals.

Vegas might be right I do remember a random trip report I remember reading on some random forum where a couple got swindled into seeing KA (Circ Show) for half price if they got to take a tour of a time share property or something. But typicaly the only "true" way you are going to get free or discounted tickets is if you gamble at the property because they rather give the projected empty seats away to people feeding there daily $ take than some random jobber.

Its not a scam. I have used them before. I think it is down somewhere near the MGM in some super crappy outdoor shopping mall.

so whats the catch? you have to buy the tickets the day of (i.e few hours before)? poor seats?

Yeah. The place that you posted is the one to use. They get the tickets either the day of or the night before and sell em at a discount. Thats it. I though this vegas guy knew everything about vegas ? -the tickets are legit, they are only available on the same day and SOMEtimes 1 day ahead. -you usually will not be able to get the good seats -they are not half price but 2 for 1 -very often, the same people will ask if you are interested in timeshare stuff (we can also offer FREE tickets), this is no surprise, the timeshare people are all over Vegas.. however this only happened to me 1 time out of about 5 times I went there for tickets -you can find one of them on the strip, opposite the New York New York , and 1 down town as well, near Vegas Vic

Sorry, I'm really not a show guy. However, I wasn't completely off seeing some of them ARE time share. Nice to know there are two legit places though.

Yes there are some places like the guys outside the Tropicana who are just there for Timeshare sales ... but they are advertising FREE shows .. not the half price stuff. ps: anybody interrested in buying my timeshare on the strip ?

I've used this place for tickets to Love and like others have said it's not a scam. This place has nothing to do with timeshares, just offers half price and last minute tickets. Got great seats the day of the show (although the way the seating is for Love there's aren't really any bad seats). I went to the Fashion Show Mall location around noon or 1 pm for a 7 pm Friday night show. I had to go there to purchase the tickets and then go to the Mirage box office to get the seats assigned. Kinda a pain having to go to two locations but well worth it for the price

Another way to get better seats (but not a cheaper price) is to wait until close to showtime, then approach the box office and ask about cancellation seats. The casino holds a ton of good seats until very close to showtime (usually 20-90 minutes) and then releases those that they don't use. You can get those for usually the standard price of the section they're in. This worked better in the '90s and earlier this decade, but the tactic still works to some degree. However, you have to be willing to walk away and/or accept shitty seats if it doesn't work.
