Holy Fuck... This game is fucking huge.

I am not sure if buying this game was such a great idea... I mean, do I have a year to get lost in this game?

I've seen this advertised but have been too busy/lazy to look at any decent reviews.

Is this a standard FPS or is it one of those shooters that is like an RPG?

The ads do look fucking amazing I have to admit.

Cliff Notes: First/Third Shooter meets RPG meets Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome.





Nothing standard about this one in my opinion.


Serious character development in this one... you can specialize or generalize your skills, you have levels and skill point distributions, skill paths that affect your abilities and strategy, karma paths that affect interactions and outcomes, bartering, mini quests with valuable rewards.... very detailed and it drags you in almost right away. The first 30 minutes are kind of a drag, mostly scripted introduction stuff, but once you leave the vault for the first time and stand out there in the wasteland by yourself with few skills or strengths and ZERO clue... wow, hours later and you won't even have scratched the surface of the first 1% of this game.

There is a story line to follow, but there is absolutely NOTHING keeping you from saying to yourself "hmmm, I wonder what is on the other side of those hills" and wandering into a world of hurt, or discovering an abandoned shack with some goodies inside. You can say fuck the script and just take off... but eventually the need for food and shelter (and all the dangerous crap you run into) will get you back on the script so you can complete some of the quests and find or build some of the stuff you need to survive.

I bought the guide book and just thumbed through it... amazing at how many ways and styles this game can be played, amazing at how some of the simple stuff along the way can come back to haunt or reward you later.

I am rambling.... if you had to explain it, you would probably ramble too, lol ...


It really is Mad Max before he became a badass... you survive, learn and develop abilities along the way with the intention of being a badass of some sort.

I like this game, but for some reason when I play it I feel sick, kinda like motion sickness. Never happened before and I play heaps of FPS's.
Looks like a great game though.

This game is the absolute bomb !!! I really like oblivion but this one tops that one ...
