 | | | | Quote: While we were wandering the floor, a floor supervisor and a security supervisor approached a player at Table 68, confirmed his name, and asked him if he had been playing blackjack around 11am this morning. The player said that he had been. The floor then explained that the player was overpaid $500 during a color-up, and that the casino would like the $500 back.
The player was confused at first, asking questions about what exactly happened and why it happened. The floor explained that the surveillance footage showed the player being over-paid during a color-up and that the director of table games had asked that the money be recovered. It was at that point that the player started to get angry, saying he had no way of verifying what they were saying was true.
"I can't really believe you guys are interrupting me in the middle of the tournament for this."
"You'd rather we wait until you go broke?" the security supervisor responded.
The player then said that he just wanted to play his hand and the last twenty minutes of the level, and that he couldn't believe they were interrupting him during work. The floor replied that it was easier to find the player while they had a seat assignment for him.
"To tell you the truth, we don't even have to let you play any other hands. We can pull you out right now," the floor explained.
"Twenty minutes guys, please?" the player responded. "I'll come find you." | | | | |
Thats a fucked up story.. The really sick thing is that they will refuse to show him the video, im sure. Granted its pretty stupid for the casino to go to this trouble for just $500 if it really wasnt true, but, they still dont have to prove it, which sucks. I suppose I would just say "I lost it - if i cash here, ill give it back." If they say, "then we have to take you out of the tournament," I would reply, "then you owe me $1000 back."

wow, especially at the lines in bold above. seriously, floorman? and if this guy referred to playing poker as "work" it's likely he's playing a lot of events this summer, pumping plenty of money into harrah's. the guy should call gaming

maybe some the legal eagles in the audience can chime in on this, but i believe if you are overchanged and refuse to return the money, you are considered guilty of theft most places... and undoubtedly casino people have seen a lot of bullshitters in their time so i can understand their getting heavy handed real fast; particularly when someone resists in front of other cusomers...the player getting mad was wrong and escalates the matter... still, the patron is not making an unreasonable request to view the evidence and recount his cash from playing blackjack, and also its reasonable for the player to be allowed to continue play in the tourney...and what is more, i think it would be reasonable for the player to demand Harrahs refund his entry fee to the tourney if they wanted him to stop playing immediately... imho, Harrah's should have asked the player to sign immediately a conditional-marker for the $500, and meet after the tourney meet with to prove the validity of their claim...i am surprised that Harrah's, with the experience they have from running a casino, did not have a more graceful way of handling this matter--its really pretty shabby treatment of a customer i think
