I really hate AQ, and this is the second consecutive event I've busted with it.
The previous event was a no-brainer, as I was extremely short-stacked and I open-shoved.
This event wasn't quite as obvious.
A young guy kept making small raises pre-flop. He would raise 2-2.5x the BB. He did this from all positions, but would often fold to a re-raise or check/fold if you flatted him and he missed the flop.
I was down to like 12400 near the end of the 300/600/75 level, meaning that my M was about 7.5. The level was about to go up to 400/800/100, making my M less than 6.
He opened to 1500 in early position (2.5x BB), and I looked down to find AcQc.
I definitely wasn't folding, because he opened so often with identical bets, and frequently had crap.
I had raised him a few times already and gotten him to fold pre, as well as bet with nothing when I flatted, and also got him to fold. So there seemed ot be a chance he might make a move on me.
What would you suggest here? Flat, bet if he checks to me, and shove if I hit any piece of the flop? Shove pre? Raise and call a shove? Raise and fold to a shove?
He had about 20k total.
Raise and fold to a shove seemed ridiculous, since raising him would leave me with only about 7-8k behind, and 9-10k already in the pot.
Anyway, I went with raise and call a shove, thinking that a shove pre would only get called by better, but a raise-and-call might open his range a bit to worse hands.
He went all in, I called, and he had AK. I lost.
What do you guys think of this?

Seems like easy three bet with intent to stack off. The only time I would ever call there is if I was fairly certain I could induce a squeeze. But 3betting seems super standard.

It's plain old shit luck. Most times he was raising with meadium strength hands, he just happened to have a real hand this time. Even if you just call and your ace its all in time anyway. If you call and you guys both miss the flop a stop and go all in may have worked. I would not have folded for sure. I probably would have went all in hoping he would fold. If I had a bigger stack then I would have just called and see what happens from there. It sucks.

That is the problem with AQ. You are not ahead of many hands from of an openers range, especially if he raises from early posiiton. That is one of the reason Doyle swore he would stop playing that hand, because it just seems to get a player in so much trouble.
I think you have only two options, either fold or move in. Although I personally think that generally when facing a raise from early postion, AQ (suited or not), is generally a big piece of chesse, based on your M and the EP raisers folding frequency, your shove is fine.
In tournmanets sometimes you have to be willling to flip, and this seems like one of those times. Only a few hands probably have you dominated, and you still have some fold equity. He just happen to have big slick, and you didnt improve.
