Oingo Boingo not withstanding Danny Elfman has done a lot musically

Only the lead singer for the greatest band, oingo boingo. hes now the most sought after music composer for tv and movies. Do an IMDb search..
Is this a serious comment or are you trying to take the piss out of popeil.
Elfman has had a terrific career and is a brilliant composer, but let's not get carried away. OB has their place in art-rock history, but greatest band??????
To each his own. Growing up in LA in the 80's, they were one of the most popular band here. Like dead-heads, they had a huge following and I was one of them. Saw them 17 times or so. San Diego, Bay Area, Vegas, Palm Springs, Irvine, Santa Barbara, LA, etc..
True enough, one man's insolent noise is another man's greatest band. That's one of the coolest things about music, it truly is subjective.
Did you have a chance to catch Social D around SoCal in your youth?
I dont think many people think boingo is noise, but okay.. No, I never saw Social D live..

NO, NO, NO.....I grew up in LA in the '80s and while I like Oingo Boingo, in no way do I consider them one of the greatest bands ever. To compare them to The Dead is an insult. Oingo was a fun party band, put on some great shows. Their Halloween shows in Isla Vista were legendary...but more for the party atmosphere than the music.
Oh and I went to a small college in So Cal that used to put on one decent sized concert every year. Social D played in 1991. Other bands that played while I was in college were: The Fixx, Mary's Danish, The Crazy Eights, and The Psychadelic Furs.

Did I compare them to the dead?? Although, personally I don't like the dead, so its not really fair, but all I said was "like deadheads, i followed boingo."
Boingo & The Go-Go's played at Druffs school for Prom in successive years - well before both of us were in High School, but I remember when it happened - It was a super big deal because though the bands were not HUGE, they were "big" and it was pretty cool..
Billy Idol came to our grad night party and hung out with us.. That was fun.. I'm sure i'm throwing out names of people that half the users here have never heard of.. Oh well.. Sign of getting old, I guess..
the first thing that came to mind while listening to that girls song was what a bunch of noise.
back in the day O.B was never part of any rotation that i had. they never were on any mix tape either. that included some harder progressive as well. from husker du, JMC to the smiths to the replacements....you get the picture. O.B was much to suckie of a band imo. that girls song posted here, sounds like frankenstein would if he ever became the lead singer for a flock of seagulls.
as hut said ."they're a good party band"...well...i could see that.

He's a fucking motherfucking bigmouth, I'll tell you that. Fucking Bevacqua, who couldn't hit water if he fell out a fucking boat.

As we've said in the past - to each his own. You like your music, I like mine..

Well, its a good thing you don't work for any of the movie studios because the guy gets paid upwards of 5mil+ per movie plus %. According to my buddy at Sony, there is only one composer now who makes more - John Williams - but he pretty much only works with 2 directors.
i make upwards of $5.oo an hour, but i'm quickly becoming an internet sensation. just ask jewdonk.

GAMBLE-BOT was solid in Back To School as well, although not as good as his performances in The Karate Kid and Just One Of The Guys.

I know, picturing DeNiro with anything other than a black model would turn my stomach too.

He doesn't fuck her in the ass, just from behind. And what about either of those things is "gross," guy?
